Once again, Athens City Council members spent a portion of their meeting Monday night discussing a proposed amendment to the city’s vending ordinance, which had another first reading. However, once again, some council members raised serious concerns about the proposal.

The amendment would change the reservation time for the 10 vendor-reserved parking spaces on East Union Street from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, to 4 a.m. to 12 p.m., six days a week, eliminating reservations on Sundays. The proposal also would allow vendors to obtain a bag to put over reserved meters by noon until as late as 3 p.m. if they know in advance they will not make the midday deadline.
