“With reports of emergency human needs as hurricane Dorian moved over the Bahamas and the East coast, some residents may be interested in learning about disaster aid given by Red Cross volunteers,” said Volunteer Lead Sandy Shirey. “New and untrained volunteers are not being recruited to respond to this disaster, but volunteers are needed for the future." Red Cross volunteers will offer information on ways to start getting involved, training, and serving in the local community. The session will also offer information on many Red Cross volunteer opportunities, including volunteers who greet donors at blood drives, disaster preparedness education for children and adults, and local response to single family fires and other disasters. The meeting is open to the public and refreshments will be served.
