Held by the Gilham - Frank VFW Post 8804. The Memorial Day service will support local heritage by honoring interned veterans in the New Marshfield cemetery by members of VFW Post 8804 with assistance from the Waterloo Township Volunteer Fire Department and Boy Scout Troop 71. The year's event is part the 73rd annual organized celebration in Athens County’s community of New Marshfield involving combat veterans and families. The annual service offers entertainment by Alexander High School Marching Band, Charlie & Celia Lewis, and Ron Baughman. Ohio Department of VFW Commander David Root will be the honored guest speaker for the service and will assist in Gilham – Frank VFW Post 8804 Sacred Grave Site Service for the over 1,000 buried veterans at the cemetery. For the first time the Memorial Day Service will be held in the old cemetery’s Garden of Gethsemane area.
