The Southeast Ohio History Center is kicking this year's series with a talk by Ric Sheffield – "The Community Within: Discovering African American History in Rural Ohio." Sheffield has been a member of the faculty at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio since 1989. Before joining Kenyon, he served for 10 years as an assistant attorney general for the State of Ohio as a civil rights attorney. The Landscape of Community Speaker Series will be held on Thursday evenings monthly through December.
