I live with a roommate who is a male slut. He's been this way as long as we've known each other, which is about two years. At first, I did not mind the revolving door on his bedroom. Lately it has started to get on my nerves. No judgments about morality, but I just get tired of having strangers coming through my house every couple of days.
I'm moving out next month to buy a small one-bedroom house nearby. Because I like my roommate a lot (in spite of his slutty ways), I promised him I would help him find someone new to move into our apartment.
As we've been interviewing people, I have not made a point of bringing up the thing I like least about living here. Neither has my roommate made any mention of it. I guess he doesn't want to scare anyone off.
I feel guilty because I feel like I'm lying. I worry that this will come back to haunt me in my new house. Should I tell the applicants the truth? -- Noise Complaints
We recently had a letter writer with similar complaint, only his problem roommate was a slob, not a slut. Still, dirt is dirt, and our advice to him applies to you as well: Break the cycle. You owe it to this guy's future roomie to come clean about the bedroom shenanigans. Sex is a wonderful thing - unless it's someone in the room next door having it.

My job really bites, which is why I've been spending many of my afternoons cruising Web sites looking for something better. There is one site I visit often, and this week I noticed a new posting for a job that looked familiar. I think my boss is about to get fired, because this job that has been posted sounds pretty darn similar to her position. I confirmed that the e-mail address on the listing goes to someone in my company.
I have not pointed the ad out to my boss. (She's not the reason I hate the company, but we're also not friends.) What I'm afraid of is someone worse getting that job once she gets fired, which would make my already sucky life even worse. But if I do point it out to her and I'm wrong, I worry that she's wonder why I've been scanning job sites. My job karma seems to be doomed either way. -- Avoiding the Axe
Rather than sulking in your cubicle playing the "What If?" game, why not lay all your cards on the conference room table? E-mail your boss the listing in question and ask forthright what's going on. If she's about to leave the company, you deserve to know it. If she's about to be fired, she deserves to know it. In either case, this incident should tell you plenty
