Letter: How to solve the Hebe dilemma
May 12, 2008
To the Editor:
I have the answer to the statue controversy. Leave Hebe where she is, and move the 20-ton statue of William McKinley, a president from the great “red” state of Ohio from Arcata, Calif., to the intersection of Court and Union streets in lovely Athens.
Seems a fellow from Arcata wants the statue of McKinley removed because he believes the former president was an imperialist, and that he started the Spanish-American War; of course, we all know this is not true because William Randolph Hearst, Sr. started that war to sell newspapers. So there you have it.
Problem solved.
