Fix-It Workshop

Organized by Athens-based non-profit organization ReUse Industries. At Fix-It Workshops, people will get help from volunteer fixing coaches to diagnose and hopefully repair their broken belongings including electronics, appliances, computers, toys and fabrics. Registration is encouraged at www.reuseindustries.org, where those interested in getting repair help or volunteering can find more information. The Fix-It Workshops are made possible by support from ReUse Industries thrift stores, the Athens Foundation, the Sugar Bush Foundation and community volunteers.

Run Like Hell Costume 5K

Runners and walkers will come out in costume to fundraise for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Check-in starts at 3:30 p.m. After the run, folks go to Casa Nueva for live music from Liz Pahl and Broken Ring from 5-7 p.m. The cost is $30 for the run/after-party and $15 for just the run. Register at active.com by searching Run Like Hell Costume 5k. Details can be found on face book under the same name. Kathy Straley organized the event to fight this disease in honor of her six-year-old daughter that is battling this condition.

Better Together Campaign

The Better Together Campaign begins its fourth year at Ohio University with a continued focus on building interfaith cooperation through activities to address local hunger and environmental issues. In Ellis 111, Better Together will kick off this year’s focus, which includes a year-long fundraising campaign for Community Food Initiatives (CFI), the Ohio University and Athens communities are invited to a documentary screening of the Academy Award nominated film The Garden. Admission to this event is free and guests are encouraged to make a donation to CFI at the event.

DIRECTIONS: From Athens, Stimson Ave, cross bridge, turn right to get to Rock Riffle Road (CR25), 3 miles up along ridge to Coolville road, go straight onto Coolville, go 3/4 mile to Robinson Ridge (CR 132.) turn left, two miles, on left, with PV array east of house. Park around corn crib. CARPOOL: 1:30 p.m., Athens Community Center on State St., under solar panel, what could be more appropriate.
