Groce addressed several issues to the media, confirming that junior guard Armon Bassett has declared for the NBA Draft; Groce has signed a contract extension with Ohio through the 2014-2015 season; and that Asown Sayles will not return for his fifth season.

Julian Posey has been through the highs and lows of the Ohio football program. During the redshirt senior's four seasons with Ohio, he has seen the Bobcats win two Mid-American Conference East Division titles and advance to two bowl games, but also gone through a painful 4-8 season in 2008.
After returning to a bowl game last year, Posey and the Bobcats are poised for a successful season.
It looks as if Ohio University basketball star Armon Bassett may not be leaving campus to pursue a professional basketball career after all. The junior guard has enrolled in classes for spring quarter and is currently a full-time student, the university's Registrar's Office confirmed.
Ohio men's basketball coach John Groce released a statement on Bassett's status Wednesday afternoon. "œArmon Bassett is currently enrolled in, and attending classes, here at Ohio University," Groce said. "œAs of right now, no decision has been made about Armon's professional future. We, along with Armon, are in the process of gathering as much information as possible on the situation. We are aware of the guidelines and deadlines associated with making such a decision and are committed to helping Armon and his family with this process."

After shocking the nation and causing riots on Court Street in Athens, No. 14-seed Ohio University men's basketball team failed to advance to the Sweet 16 Saturday afternoon in Providence, R.I., falling 83-68 at the hands of No. 6-seed Tennessee.
Tommy Freeman led the OU team with 23 points as Armon Bassett and Kenneth van Kempen struggled in the paint, scoring just 7 and 6 points, respectively.
The Bobcats have no reason to hang their heads, however.

The Ohio Bobcats pulled off the upset of the NCAA Tournament (and one of the biggest upsets in first-round tournament history according to some reports) Thursday night, taking down Georgetown 97-83, though other early-tournament upsets were brewing. Ohio was the lowest seed to win on the first day, and took down one of the teams expected to make a run at the Final Four. The Bobcat men are set to play sixth-seed Tennessee Saturday afternoon. If miracles continue to happen, and the stars are all aligned, Ohio could get a Sweet 16 matchup with Ohio State.
The Bobcats were led by Armon Bassett and D.J. Cooper, who had 32 and 23 points respectively.
Ohio will go on to face the winner of Tennessee and San Diego State on Saturday.
After the victory, several hundreds students erupted onto the streets and celebrated loudly before being dispersed by OU and Athens Police. Witnesses described pandemonium for about a half hour before things settled down. With finals week ending Friday, there's not expected to be any similar activities Saturday if Ohio does the unthinkable and wins to get into the final 16. Athens Police Chief Rick Mayer issued a press release about the disturbance.
