To the Editor:
I totally agree with the Athens Board of Zoning Appeals’ decision not to issue a permit to “Three Wide Entertainment.”
To the Editor:
After reading the letter to the editor in Monday’s (March 19) issue of The Athens NEWS from Mike Moschell, I felt the eneed to elaborate on something he mentioned in his letter. He basically stated that there had been more discourse over how dogs were killed at the county dog shelter than concern for people needing and obtaining shelter.

On March 21, the Freedom of Choice Ohio coalition brought several hundred women and 20 men to rally on the Ohio Statehouse steps against the “heart beat” bill (HB 125). Already passed by the House, it is soon to be voted on by the Ohio Senate.
To the Editor:
I would like to thank the kind-hearted Meredith Booker who wrote about the very pathetic end of a little sheltie dog who was hit by a truck on a highway near you (The NEWS, March 19).

In a nutshell, current laws will allow energy fracking companies to rape the beauty of Athens County. Why? So the good folks in cities like NYC can have abundant and cheap energy.
To the Editor:
I feel a need to respond to the "need to call out anti-fracking people for their lack of concern for their neighbors," a letter that appeared in the March 8 Athens NEWS. This characterization is the result of misinformation from industry, and a strategy to divide and conquer communities they wish to exploit for economic gain.

On Friday, March 16, our Athens County engineer, Archie Stanley, decided that it was a good day to do some work on a small bridge that crosses Cherry Creek, a high-quality headwater stream (at least until Friday). To the Editor:
I am very grateful that there's a service such as the Athens County Dog Shelter. My daughter and I received very courteous service from Chris on our first visit, and I am pleased to see the recent attention the dog shelter is receiving regarding euthanization procedures from the Athens County Commissioners.
