OU engineering students create, race electric cars for final exam

Senior and graduate engineering students in Ohio University associate professor Gerardine Botte's class have been designing and building electrochemical vehicles for the past five weeks, and on Tuesday the two teams put their creations to a 50-foot test.

Specialty Bookstore to close

Specialty Bookstore is planning to close its doors on North Court Street on March 21. The Nebraska Book Co., which owns Specialty Books, shut down its book distribution center in The Plains in June of 2011 because of "changing market dynamics," according to an article in The Athens NEWS.

OU lays off 20 dining workers after union rejects deal

University says employees may be recalled next fall

Ohio University Tuesday evening announced it will provide immediate layoff notices to 20 residential dining employees, in a news release. The university said it hopes to hire them back next fall after Nelson Dining Hall reopens.
