Director Dennis Lee Delaney of Ohio University's
School of Theater has brought to the stage of Kantner Hall an adapted version
of the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus. The tale tells of Orpheus' pursuit of his
wife after she has been sent to the Underworld (aka, Hell) as a result of a
venomous snakebite during their wedding.
When the legendary Doc Watson says the Kruger
Brothers "are just about as fine a band as I've ever played with… I love to
play music with them," it's worth paying attention.

The Lee Boys, one of the premier
African-American "sacred steel" ensembles, are performing this

them into a corner of the Jackie O's patio Tuesday night for a beer and to talk
about their album release party at Jackie O's this Saturday night.

Union, to touring the U.S. and Europe, the Athens band, Wheels On Fire,
has come full circle by deciding to seal their legacy with a final show
where it all commenced.
The Humble Play: New Play Festival of
Appalachia Ohio returns for a sixth year today (Thursday, Oct. 6)
through Sunday, Oct. 9. All performances and activities will be held at
ARTS/West, located at 132 W. State St. in Athens.
The seventh annual Jerseyville Festival takes place
this Saturday at the Shade Community Center in Shade, located on Old Route 33
southeast of Athens. This year's
festival promises to be even bigger and better, according to a news release.
Stuart's Opera House is welcoming bluesman Paul Geremia for a special backstage show this Thursday (Sept. 29) at 8 p.m. Over the years, Geremia has played often in various venues in Athens County.
