Exhibit documents spring 1970 anti-war protests in Athens

The Athens County Historical Society and Museum is hosting a new exhibit, opening today (April 16) from 5-7 p.m. at 65 North Court St., according to a news release. The exhibit is a black-and-white photographic display of images in Athens and at Ohio University during the spring of 1970.

Events set to honor 150th anniversary of Civil War’s end

On April 9, 1865, Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered to General Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox, Virginia. Some 150 years later, the Athens County Historical Society & Museum is celebrating the closing phase of the war and the return home of Athens Countians who served their country.
