Ohio University Student Senate President Nick Southall was arrested Monday in St. Petersburg, Fla., where he had reportedly gone to attend the bowl game in which OU's football team was playing.
According to a booking report from the Pinella County Sheriff's Office, Southall, 22, was arrested shortly before 3 a.m. and charged with misdemeanor "disorderly intoxication – disturbance."
He was booked and held for about 14 hours before being released, the material says.
Southall, who is from Marietta, Ohio, was the subject of public criticism earlier this year from readers of the OU Post newspaper, after the paper publicized a message he had posted on Twitter on the morning of Sept. 1, in which he commented sarcastically on the appearance of women he saw walking home through Athens at that time.
Southall later apologized for the tweet.
He couldn't be reached for comment before our early deadline.
