Harlen John Kasler, 100, of Chauncey, passed away Tuesday evening, December 3, 2013 at the home of his granddaughter Tara Lee in Clover, SC. Born January 16, 1913 in Greens Run, he was the son of the late John Riley Kasler and Mae Green Kasler.
He was a coal miner and an 80 year member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a loving husband, devoted father and loving to all of his family.
Harlen is survived by a sister, Eileen Bridgewater Jones of Newark; daughters and sons – Helen Baughman Plumley of Navasota, Texas, Janice Elizabeth Blower of Chauncey, Paul (Leah) Kasler of Nelsonville, Brenda (Jim) Flynn of Salisbury, NC and Randy (Kim) Kasler of St. Clairsville; sixteen grandchildren – John (Becky) Baughman, Maryann (John) Riley, Larry (Kaisha) Baughman, Fred (Heather) Baughman, Lisa Baughman Christian, Debra Blower Wooten, Greg (Janice) Blower, Scott (Crista) Blower, Mitch (Cathe´) Blower, Paula Collins, Brian (Cindy) Kasler, Tara (Steve Barr) Lee, Lindsay (Tim) Smith, Holly Kasler, Cassie (Robert) Dearth and Brandon Kasler; also surviving are many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Beside his parents he is preceded in death by his wives – Mary Laura Davis Kasler, Bonnie Skivers Kasler and Pauline Conkey Kasler; a sister, Lovella Kasler Lester, a daughter-in-law, Carol Kasler and a son-in-law, Thomas Blower.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday 10 a.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call Friday 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
