Anti-fracking people have other options beside banning it

To the Editor:

No fracking way!! To those people who carry the anti-fracking banner, I would suggest the following: Seek legislation that would require fracking waste to be disposed of in some way other than injection back into the ground. How about evaporation ponds?

Also, fracking fluids and garbage have been brought into Athens County for decades. Why all the fuss now? It might appear that the entire movement is driven by jealousy?

I have one last suggestion. Be practical! If there are significant hydrocarbon reserves, underground, in Athens County, they will be harvested eventually, and no local effort will stop that.

People used to smoke in malls, stores and establishments all over the country, smoking has been around for decades.  The difference today people are a lot more educated on the effects thus we see an increase to the laws to protect the people.  Would you suggest those who did not want their health impacted or their childrens health simply by walking in the mall were suddenly jealous of people who smoke?  Quite frankly the commentary above is ludicrous, so much so I ponder how it even made it to print in any fashion.
