To the Editor:
The absurdity of OU's hastened plan to remove Building 26 at the Ridges is utterly beyond belief.
OU had made little, if any, effort to secure the building from trespassers until its recent brick infill of the window openings was done, making it now secure. Where was their concern over liability for all the many previous years?
Now the decision to immediately demolish this secure but historic building is being made by an administration that has no connection whatsoever to the history of the local community.
No, let's add the two interested developers of the property and the fact that now the demolition is going to cost OU another $150,000 over and above what the state has pledged. What better waste of general funds in an already cash-strapped institution?
Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot the damage and possible land slippage of the literal path through The Ridges that is now going to be used for removal of thousands of tons of rubble?
Can this scenario be any more absurd?
