Cheer on the July 4th float for Sustainable Communities
To the Editor:
Put on your hiking shoes or grab your bicycle, and join your neighbors for a people-powered float through Athens this Wednesday! We will gather at 8:30 a.m. next to Memorial Auditorium to line up in the 4th of July parade. Our theme is Sustainable Communities, so dress up in a way that celebrates solar and wind energy, clean water and air, beekeeping, gardening, public and people-powered transportation, public spaces like parks and forests, and interdependence!
Bring water to drink, and ask your friends and family to nab a spot along the parade route to cheer us on. We will get some great exercise, and be inspired to keep making green progress in our beloved hometown.
