Lucille Madge Salyers, 87, of Stewart, OH, died at her home on Wednesday, June 6. She was born in Clover, WV on January 15, 1925, to the late John C. and Hettie M. Holland Matheny.
Lucille was known by everyone as "Grandma". She was a kind and sweet lady who never met a stranger. She enjoyed keeping journals and spending time with her family.
She is survived by three daughters; Priscilla Woods of Bethlehem, GA, Patricia Carpenter (Michael) of Little Hocking, OH, and Linda D. Michael (Darry) of The Plains, OH, three sons; William Matheny (Marcella) of Glouster, OH, Jack Salyers of Stewart, OH, and David Salyers (Cindy) of Stewart, OH, two step-daughters; Helen Lemley (Jack) of Parkersburg and Joyce Lamp (Eugene) of Vienna, WV, one step- son; Brown Willard Salyers (Jeanie) of Akron, OH, 27 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, one sister; June Bock (Eugene) of Parkersburg, and one sister-in-law; Donna Matheny.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John O. Salyers' one step-son, Donald Salyers; two step-daughters - Darla Martin and Carol Rogers; four brothers - Brooks, Brennie, John Jr. and Donzel Matheny; one sister, Bessie Armstrong' one brother in law, Lewis Armstrong; and one great grandson, Justin Rockhold.
The Memorial Service will be Monday, June 11, beginning at 11:00 AM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday from 10-11 AM.
