Christopher S. "Chris" Weibel, 53, of Guysville, Ohio died Thursday morning, May 24, 2012 at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital, Athens. Born November 1, 1958 in Sandusky, Ohio, he is the son of Herman and Phyllis Shaffer Weibel of Shiloh, Ohio.

A graduate of Bellevue High School and Ohio University, he worked at the Dean's Office in the College of Communication at Ohio University. He taught production classes, designed facilities and produced promotional videos. He also worked at Hocking College, producing instructional video and Electronic Vision, an interactive multi-media company. His passion was producing and writing music for many musicians and artists at his recording studio, Media Design House.

He was member of Central Ave. Church and active in the music program playing the keyboard and B3 organ.

Chris is survived by his wife of 31 years, Laura Rettig Weibel; two daughters- Sara Weibel of Canfield, Ohio and Esther Weibel of Athens, Ohio; a son, Ben Weibel of Athens, Ohio; his parents, Herman and Phyllis Weibel of Shiloh, Ohio; four brothers- Curt (Vicki) Weibel of Estes Park, Colorado, Eric (Elizabeth) Weibel of Englewood, Ohio, Jonathan (Susie) Weibel, State College, Pa., Seth (Andrea) Weibel of Shiloh, Ohio; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Gathering and Celebration of Chris's life will take place at Central Ave. Church, 73 Central Ave., Athens, Ohio 45701 on Sunday from 3-5 pm. Burial will follow at Wyers Cemetery, Stewart, Ohio. Arrangements are with Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to The Chris Weibel Fund, Holzer Foundation, 100 Jackson Pike Gallipolis, OH 45631. This fund will help families with a chronically ill loved one who don't qualify for assistance meet the obligations of mounting medical bills.
