Longtime festival needs queen applicants to keep pageant going

To the Editor:

The Chauncey-Dover Spring Festival is taking place on Saturday, June 2. As part of our little festival we have a queen's pageant and a small parade. Unless things begin to pick up drastically in the next week, it's going to be a Queen's Pageant without contestants. For whatever reason (and I'm sure there are many), we are having very little interest in our contest this year, especially girls in the Queen's division — girls ages 13-18 years old. We also need girls and boys in the following age groups: Little Boys 4-6 years old, Little Girls 4-7 years old, and Junior Girls 8-12 years old. My hope is that folks will read this letter and enter their children. We've lost so much in our village already, i.e. Chauncey Elementary, that it would be a shame to see this go away, too!

I hope that folks from the immediate area will read this and call 818-3282 for any further information. My name is Kevin Bennett, and I've been involved in this small festival for 23 years now. Please, folks, help us out with your young ladies and gentlemen. Deadline is Tuesday, May 29, for the younger kids and Wednesday, May 30, for the Queen contestants.

Please help me to keep this going!
