To the Editor:
I would like to clarify and state the facts regarding last Thursday's letter to the editor by Sarah Robles.
In her letter, she stated that "our commissioners denied our request to make the meeting official so all three of them could attend."
What Sarah did not write was that I made a motion to make the town hall meeting, concerning banning the gassing of dogs at the dog shelter, a part of the commissioners' official meeting. The motion died for the lack of a second.
Sarah may be a passionate advocate, but she should have the courtesy to state the real facts.
She went on to say that the concerns of her group are not important to the commissioners, and that shelter animals are not important. This could not be further from the truth.
I and the other Commissioners and our dog shelter staff care very much about abandoned dogs in our county. Personally, my family has two dogs. One was adopted from the dog shelter. Our second dog was received from a family who did not want the dog.
