Kenneth A. Beckley

Kenneth A. Beckley, 88, Albany, passed away Saturday February 4, 2012, at his residence.

Born March 5, 1923, in Knox Twp. Vinton County, Kenneth was the son of the late Samuel H. and Minnie Andrews Beckley. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, a retired foreman in the shipping/receiving department of the former McBees, a carpenter and a member of K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn Joan Boals Beckley, a son Michael (Janette) Beckley of Grove City, daughter Tamara Beckley-Artis of Portsmouth; grandchildren Chris Artis, Sara Beckley, Jessica Artis, and Jennifer Beckley; and a sister Christina Ley of Athens.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings–Frank Beckley, Opal Beckley, Frances Jane McCall, Ruth Beckley, Lawrence Beckley, Bessie Beckley, Gerald Beckley, and Bertha Crow.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 P.M., at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens with military services by Albany VFW Post 9893, Athens VFW Post 3477 and K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion. Visitation will be Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
