Sheriff Kelly’s Best of Athens victory is not to be believed
To the Editor:
Thanks A-News, for giving me the best laugh I've had in a long time. The description for Best Law Enforcement Officer in your 2012 Best of Athens survey was hilarious. Did Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly send that in himself or maybe one of his family members? If I were any of those characters, I'd be highly offended.
He is a good actor; I'll give him that. I really expect him to erect a statue of himself any day. I don't know how he gets his head in the door of the sheriff's office.
Oh, yes. He worked as a deputy for several years. Why didn't he take care of some of those thousands of outstanding warrants then? He wasn't doing anything else. He is evidently trying to forget his poor past record and adverse run-ins with local law enforcement himself. We haven't forgot. Best Law Officer? You've got to be joking!
