Stuart's Opera House is hosting "An Acoustic Café Evening Tour" this Friday night featuring Erin McKeown, Carrie Rodriguez and Kelly Joe Phelps.
According to a news release, the touring series is continuing for a third consecutive year hosted by Austin-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Carrie Rodriguez. Joining Carrie each night on the tour are Kelly Joe Phelps and Erin McKeown. Tickets are available for the 8 p.m. show by calling (740) 753-1924 or visiting www.stuartsoperahouse.org.
Host Carrie Rodriguez's most recent releases, "Love & Circumstance" (2010) and "We Still Love Our Country" with Ben Kyle (2011) are primarily cover collections that highlight her vocal and interpretive skills, according to the release. But Rodriguez has become better known as a burgeoning singer-songwriter behind her first two solo releases, "She Ain't Me" and "Seven Angels On A Bicycle." She originally made her name singing and playing with renowned singer-songwriter Chip Taylor, whom she appeared with at a "Mountain Stage" concert at OU's Memorial Auditorium several years ago.
Kelly Joe Phelps has been described as "The Phantom Monk Of Folk-Blues," according to the release. Over the past 17 years of recording and touring, Phelps is known for the inventiveness of his playing and singing.
Erin McKeown has been touring nationally for over a decade and has sold over 100,000 records. She has put out two albums on Signature Sounds, three on Nettwerk, and her most recent studio effort came via Righteous Babe Records, according to the release. In addition to her active tour schedule and side projects, she'll have a new record of original songs dropping in 2012.
"Acoustic Café" is a two-hour weekly radio show, and an independent media production of RDR Radio, LLC. The program is produced and hosted by Rob Reinhart, who started the show in 1995, according to the release. Each week, listeners around the globe tune in to Acoustic Café to hear the latest from today's great songwriting talents.
