Alice France Nisley, 81, of Athens, died Saturday evening, January 14, 2012 at Kimes Nursing and Rehab Center, Athens after a courageous battle with cancer. Born May 7, 1930 in Cleveland, she was the daughter of the late Wayne M. and Fern White France.
She is a 1948 graduate of Athens High School. She started working at the Athens Mental Health Center, following graduation and retiring after 32 years of service. She was a member of Bates United Methodist Church.
Alice is survived by her husband, Richard M. Nisley; a daughter, Vickie (Bill) Hall; three step children- Andy (Debbie) Nisley, Scott (Christy) Nisley and Zella Nisley; two grandchildren, Erin and Matthew Hall; five step grandchildren- Stephanie (Jared) More, Lisa (Brett) Reckert, Andrew Nisley, Andrea (Steve) Schumacher and Katie (Dustin) Robison; four great grandchildren- Alex and Sam Schumacher, Emma More and Dominic Robison; a sister, Dona (Joe) Collins and several nieces and nephews.
Beside her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers, Lee and Roger France; and a step daughter, Cheryl Nisley.
Funeral service will be conducted Thursday 1:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Pastor David Barringer officiating. Burial will be in Bates Cemetery, Alexander Township.
