"With Woody Pines," according to a news release, "you find yourself in the Mississippi Delta when AM radio is king, sippin' whiskey if you're fortunate and moonshine if you're desperate.
Woody Pines, who often plays in his second home of Athens County, performs a mix of ragtime, country and blues.
The concert will take place outside in the Stuart's parking lot and will feature a beer garden. The Concert Series continues the second Thursday of each month through the rest of summer. Aug. 11 will feature Duke Junior & the Smokey Boots and The Randys, and Sept. 8 will feature Nick Tolford and Company.
Woody Pine's band includes Pines on guitar, banjo, harmonica and lead vocals; Zack Pozebanchuk on upright bass; "and a shapeshifting band of drums and fiddle."
Pines, who comes from a musical family and has been playing music since he can remember, describes the band's sound as a ragtime rhythm and a swinging good time, and his songs reflect that belief.
