Band needs local support for big national win
An up-and-coming Athens band is in the midst of a knock-down, drag-out battle of the bands hosted by Billboard Magazine.
According to Casey Davis of Duke Junior and the Smokey Boots, the band has been selected by Billboard as one of three bands representing the entire Midwest in the magazine's Battle Of The Bands. The contest features 18 unsigned bands from across the country. The other two Midwestern bands are MyMyMy from Chicago and Lightning Love from Ypsilanti, Mich.

"At this stage of the competition," he said, "we need to get as much support for the band as possible and get all of the votes we can."
The band that garners the most votes in the first round will be provided with a vehicle from Chevrolet in which they'll travel to Las Vegas for the second round.
