The Tea Party people represent those who oppose those who are supposed to represent us but are not. Just special interests, and that includes big business like General Electric and MSNBC. As far as I am concerned, many law-abiding moral folks listen to Fox News because that is one of the few places you get the truth. I don't need Glenn Beck or Fox to tell me the country is headed in the wrong direction. I just look at them as a source for truth and real facts of things I can't find out, which is hidden by the biased media.
An example: The Kansas City Star didn't listen or watch Glenn's reaction to the shockingly non-widespread news that the Missouri governor was the target of an assassination attempt. Note this attempt was made by a liberal. And how about the 13 killed in the Northeast? No, that doesn't get noticed. Your saying that we shouldn't mix politics and anti-government rhetoric is like taking the chocolate out of milk. No one should stoop to violence, but speaking and sowing your support for the right thing is always a good standing policy.
A lot of things bad have happened to this country due to people not speaking up or reacting to situations. Leftist, Communist and anti-God folks moved forward with little opposition because the little guy kept his mouth shut. No more, my friend, and thank God for the brass to stand up for what is right. Left up to rhetoric like yours in the paper, our country would be under a dictatorship in no time. Taken notice: a large majority of folks in the Tea Party are older men and women who fought in the wars and have earned the right to protest,
And how can any liberal, progressive, moderate or conservative be mad about a group of Americans taking to the streets to protest the actions of the country? What they are engaged in is constitutional. The freedom to assemble, march, walk, scream and yell is right there in the document we all abide by.
Now, I know all the hysteria that results when Tea Partiers get together, and we get instant images of Sarah Palin and Christine O’Donnell. And while some of the folks mentioned previously and their Tea Party brothers and sisters have shown themselves to be lacking certain mental competencies, that also exists in other parties as well. I am not here to debate that. Whether you like them or hate them, they are here to stay.
The country’s two-party system has been allowed to run unchecked and without any regards to those who vote in this system and put people in positions of power. The parties are supposed to be a system of checks and balances, but they have failed us somewhat by launching one-sided opinions against the wishes of the American people.
The existence of the Tea Party has been a good thing and has put the Republicans and Democrats on notice for their jobs, and rightfully so. If we over-budgeted at the office of any business, who would fire us. The Boss, that's who,
As for the black and white or race issues, it isn't about black, white or brown; its about keeping our country safe and our values intact. Our president is black – great. I couldn’t care what color he is, but I do care that he is preserving our Constitution and abiding by our laws, not making his own up. Now that is called being an American.
For the record, I am a former U.S. Marine and can appreciate the Tea Party. I am not arguing for violence or for angry mobs to take over. But do not think I will be voiceless. And I do not care what Glenn Beck or any other program says other than what is revealed to be the truth. But as a Tea Partier, I have a mind of my own. Like millions of other Americans, we aren't stupid.
We are sick of our society being eroded with calls for liberalism in schools, government and our very own homes. Isn't it a poor view when Americans have to protect themselves against the government? Even our history books have been invaded by one-sided beliefs, as has our Bible. No sir, don't attack the Tea Party; instead, be glad it is here for the sake of everyone, even liberals. This may be the only hope left for our country to be a free society. God bless America as it stands free…
Editor’s note: The Rev Bob Nickester lives on Johnson Road in The Plains where he works with the handicapped. He’s a minister with Firelands Bethel Church in Sandusky, Ohio, and is a Marine Corps veteran.
You are wrong in your basic premise that Tea Party=conservative. I tend to vote Democrat and I am strongly for a balanced budget, believe abortion should be illegal, and support the 2nd amendment. I am also a veteran.
Your sweeping generalizations are ridiculous and you may find it interesting that Fox viewers are the most misinformed viewers among all heavy cable news viewers (http://www.usnews.com/opinion/blogs/john-farrell/2010/12/22/university-study-fox-viewers-more-misinformed.html). You can boo-hoo all you want about the straw man that you build but I was much more patriotic in opposing the Iraq war (which drained our treasury and accomplished nothing in the war on terror) while supporting the search for Osama in Afghanistan.
I quit reading after the first sentence. Anything that starts with name-calling instead of level-headedness isn't worth my time.
YOU KNOW YOU'RE A TeaPartyRepublican't WHEN...
You didn't get mad when:
* SCOTUS stopped a legal recount and appointed a President
* Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate energy policy
* A covert CIA operative got outed
* The Patriot Act got passed
* We illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us
* We spent over 1 trillion(and counting) on on illegal war
* 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq.
* You saw the Abu Grahib photos.
* You found out we were t.orturing people.
* The national debt doubled under the previous President from $5.674
Trillion to $10.024 Trillion.
* You saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.
* We let a major US city drown!
* The deficit hit the Trillion dollar mark.
You finally got mad when :
* The government decided that people in America deserved the right to
see a doctor if they are sick
* The government tried to create jobs ( and did! )
* The government tried to save the economy ( and especially when they did)
* The government tried to protect the consumer from banks and CC companies
* The government tried to give basic equality to ALL of it's citizens
* The governement tried to function for the people and not just
rich white guys
* The government was being run by an intelligent and brillant
BLACK leader (.) period
TeaPottyRepublican'ts ...Hypocrisy art thou
You know your a moron liberal hypocrite when:
Still bitching about your loss
The Patriot Act gets renewed
Unions & GE dictate ALL policy
Still spending trillions on the so called illegal war
The CIA does not trust you
Seeing billions of stimuli disappear
Want to sent war criminals to American courts
Economics is too complicated
Blamed a natural disaster on a President
Nations debt has triple in 2 years
Scared of your own shadow
Even More Hypocritical When:
Think the Health Care fix will not sky rocket cost
Think Health Care will be fixed when not fixing the actual problem, the cost.
Don't know the real reason for the Health Care reform, redistribution of wealth
Think the economy is fixed, (see previous statement on economics)
Think you can get a job from a poor man
Think we will put up with a socialist society
Your leader is no leader, he is a shill
Whew, stuberry, you've drunk the cool-aid, and recited the party line. Unfortunately, when you tried to think for yourself, you failed. None of the comments under "Even More..." are based in fact,or are even vaguely sensible comments. Where is the "redistribution of wealth"? Only the rich getting richer. "Think you can get a job from a poor man", are you intimating we should just keep padding the pockets of the wealthy, 'cause they've created so many jobs here?
Socialist society? That's funny, and again, ridiculous.
