Merle D. Kelzenberg

Merle D. Kelzenberg, 71, of Chauncey, died Saturday, December 11, 2010 at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital. 

He was born May 29, 1939 in Athens.

He was a graduate of Chauncey High School, and was retired from the Athens Mental Health Center after 28 years of service. He was an avid hunter and a big Ohio State fan.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carla; two children, Ted Kelzenberg and his girlfriend Shellie of Cleveland, Cinta Kelzenberg of Elgin, SC; three grandsons, Chris, Jeremy, and Zack Kelzenberg; a brother, Robert (June) Hanning of The Plains; three sisters, Jan (Jerry) Ziegler of The Plains, Wiladene (Dan Parkinson) Kempton of Chauncey, and Donna Kelzenberg of Chauncey; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Theodore and Flo Hanning Kelzenberg; and his biological parents, Chester and Florence Ervin Hanning.

Services will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Gary Alton officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 5 to 8 PM.
