Jesse Rowe, 35, of Fairmont, W.Va., was arrested by police units in Wood County, W.Va., Sunday night. According to a sheriff's report, officers responded to a call from a woman in The Plains shortly after 7 p.m., reporting that Rowe (reportedly an ex-boyfriend) was in her home and she wanted him removed.
Rowe had allegedly gotten into a fight with another man at the residence, and the woman asked Rowe to leave.
While officers were en route, Rowe reportedly left the scene in a Dodge Neon. Deputy Shannon Sheridan spotted the vehicle when it passed him near the Columbia Road overpass on U.S. Rt. 33. The car was allegedly going over 70 mph in a 55 mph zone, and Sheridan pulled it over near the U.S. Rt. 50/32 exit around Wal-Mart.
When Rowe exited his car, Sheridan wrote in a report, he appeared to be covered in blood. After the officer ordered Rowe back into the vehicle, Rowe allegedly drove off, leading Sheridan on a high-speed chase through Guysville and toward Belpre, getting up to 130 mph as they passed the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Athens post.
The West Virginia State Police finally stopped Rowe with "stop sticks" after he crossed the bridge into that state. He was arrested and taken to jail, from which he will be brought back to Athens County to be charged, probably with felony flight. The pursuit covered about 26 miles, according to estimates from the local dispatcher.
