The new 140-unit complex will consist of 10 buildings and feature a number of amenities, said developer Gary Gitlitz. He said that one-, two- and three-bedroom luxury apartments will be available.
"It's going to be sitting in that really nice location looking back at the school, and back into the hills," he said. "It's going to be a great place to live."
The UE development currently has a number of condominiums and a townhome complex, as well as a neighborhood of houses.
Gitlitz said the apartments are designed for young professionals, older students and anyone else in the market for that type of housing.
"We're not really looking for an age group," he said. "But we're hopeful that it will be the older students and professionals who will be there."
The complex will feature a pool, a health club, study rooms, party facilities and various other amenities, he said.
"It's going to be a place to have a party," Gitlitz declared.
The developers have yet to settle on rent prices, but it should be competitive with similar apartment complexes around Athens. One reason costs are as yet undetermined is that the apartments will vary in configuration and size.
The name of the apartment complex refers to landscaping work that will be done during construction, he said.
As for the overall UE project, Gitlitz said it's going through the process and he's trying to stay focused on the construction project at hand.
"I'm just trying to work on this project," he said. "It's pretty big all by itself. It's going to have great amenities. It's going to have a great view. It's just going to be a great place to live."
The apartment buildings will be constructed simultaneously, he said, and are projected to open for tenants by spring 2011, with the whole complex expected to be finished by September of that year.
The complex was designed by Kontogiannis & Associates of Columbus, and construction is being done by Rockford Homes, also of Columbus. The project is valued at $9 million.
