Christopher A. “Chris” McDade, 51, of Athens, died unexpectedly Monday morning, August 16, 2010 at his home. Born September 3, 1958 in Columbus, he is the son of Ronald G. and Loretta G. Davis McDade of Athens.

A 1977 graduate of Athens High School, he received his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Recreation Management from Ohio University. He was employed as Student Activities Director at Hocking College for 18 years and as Athens County Director of Smith Concrete.

In high school, he was active in basketball, marching band, and was a member of the band “Shadows of the Knight”. He was a 36 year resident of Athens. Chris enjoyed golf, hunting, coaching and teaching his sons youth athletics and music.

He was a member of 1st United Methodist Church and Paramuthia Lodge 25 F&AM.

Beside his parents, Chris is survived by his wife of 18 years, Tabatha D. Fife McDade; two sons- Tyler and Shane McDade; a sister, Mandy (Randy) Allen of Albany; two nephews- Kirk and Kyle Allen; father in law, Dale Fife of Gallipolis; several aunts, uncles and numerous friends.

Funeral service will be conducted Thursday 1:00PM in Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Pastor Denver Dodrill officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of choice in memory of Chris.
