• The Ridgetop Music Fest takes place at the Vinton Count Airport. Sponsored by the Vinton County Pilots and Boosters Association, it features local and area solo performers and groups, as well as open stage entrants. In addition, mini-tractor pulls start at 5 p.m. and will continue into the evening. The music also starts at 5 and includes bluegrass, country, southern rock, gospel, and more. Atlatl Contests: The Ohio Atlatl Association and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 100 are holding their 11th annual Atlatl Contest Saturday and Sunday at the Albany Riding Club, corner of Ohio Rts. 681 and 32. The atlatl is an ancient hunting system more than 30,000 years old. Saturday’s competition starts at 2 p.m. and Sunday’s at 11 a.m.Garden Feast: 6-8 pm at the American Legion Post 21, 520 W. Hawaiian Luau: Annual event held by Burr Oak State Park and Friends of Burr Oak. 1 p.m. at the main beach area. Activities include boat rides, games and music. No charge.Produce Giveaway: The Friends and Neighbors Community Choice Food Center will be handing out free produce such as peaches, apples, cucumbers, zucchini, cauliflower, yellow squash and cabbage in the Athens County Job and Family Services County Home parking lot beginning at 10 a.m. Individuals and families who are at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level are eligible to receive free produce. Area residents who do not know if they are eligible will be able to check to see if they meet the guidelines at the giveaway. Also, individuals and families can receive the free produce even if they have received a food box from a local food pantry recently. The program will last until 1 p.m., or while supplies last. The Athens County Job and Family Services County Home is located on Ohio Rt. 13, between Athens and Chauncey and next to the Athens County Dog Shelter.
