Edwin Dale (Buck) Perry

By Jaine Wyatt

Edwin Dale (Buck) Perry, 75, Athens, gave up a hard fought battle with heart disease and peacefully passed away at his residence on Perry Road, Sunday morning June 20, 2010. He was surrounded by family at the time of his death.

Dale was born August 29, 1934, the youngest son of the late Garnet and Margie Woodrum Perry.

Dale was married to Margaret Sheridan and they celebrated their 55th anniverary in May 2010. Besides his wife, Dale leaves behind children, David Perry (Patsy), Kay Biehl (Paul), Steve Perry (Carla), Rodney Perry (Kim), and Cindy Perry (Scott Meeks).
Also surviving are sisters Arlene Perry and Doris Brooks (Harold), grandchildren Kelsy, Mikala, Zach, Christopher, Candy, Garnet, Mathew, Dustin (Jamie) and Aranda; numerous nieces and nephews and a special nephew Roy Brooks (Karen); brother in laws Jerry Sheridan and Pat Sheridan (Wanda); and a sister in law E. Cecillia Dearth (Glenn).

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Worley and an infant sister, Frances Jane, a nephew Dean Brooks, a brother in law Dick Sheridan, and a sister in law, Genny Sheridan.

Dale lived his entire life in Athens County and his legacy will be that of a proud, hard working American farmer. He managed and operated the family dairy on Perry Road until his health declined.

Dale was a member of the Albany Grange 1611, served on the Athens Couyty Fair Board, was a founding member of the Athens County Tractor and Truck Club, was OSTPA Puller of the year in 1974, a founding member of the Golden Wings CB Club, an FFA Alumni, 4-H Supporter and a longtime fan of the Alexander Spartans.

Time spent with friends, especially the "Breakfast Club" crew and Weenie Wednesdays at Larry's Dawg House were special to him. He enjoyed family gatherings, good food and homemade ice cream. Dale will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Services will be Friday at 1 PM at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, with Pastor Del Dodrill officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family has established a memorial scholarship and contributions may be mailed to Alexanders' Future Foundation, P.O. Box 204, Albany, Ohio 45710.
