Gilbert Wayne Lovsey, 61, of Albany, died unexpectedly, Sunday, May 30, 2010 at his home. Born March 9, 1949 in Athens, he was the son of the late Harrison G. and Frances E. Carmen Lovsey.
A 1967 graduate of Alexander High School, he retired from Southern Ohio Coal Company. He was currently employed at McKee Auto Parts. He was a member of Constitution Lodge 426 F&AM, Aladdin Temple Shrine, K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion, AMVETS Post 93 Albany, FOE Aerie 2279 McArthur, UMWA Local 1857 and a life member of VFW Post 9893 Albany.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, awarded the Vietnam Campaign Service Medal with 2 O/S Bars.
Gilbert is survived by two daughters- Amy Gwinn and her fiancé, James Nicholson of Athens and Heather Lovsey of The Plains; three grandchildren- Rachel and Brandon Gwinn and Marissa Beach; six sisters- Arlene (Wayne) Keirns of Batavia, Phyllis Bundy of Groveport, Charlotte (Larry) James of Reynoldsburg, Marilyn (Mike) Gingerich of McConnelsville, Linda (George) Cvetan of Athens and Sharon (Roger) Black of Rutland; also surviving are several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Harrison Gail Lovsey.
Funeral service will be conducted Sunday 2:00PM at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Pastor David Cogar officiating. Burial will be in New Marshfield Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday 4-8PM at the funeral home. Constitution Lodge 426 F&AM will hold Masonic services Saturday 6:00PM at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion, VFW Post 3477 and VFW 9893 Honor Guards at the cemetery.
