Dogs' valentine campaign had positive and widespread impact

To the Editor:

The numbers are in on the Dogs Deserve Better Valentine Campaign 2010. A total of 14,745 valentine cards were sent to all 50 states and Canada as friendly reminders that there are alternatives to permanently chaining/penning your dog, and to help in attaining those alternatives.

This year, more than ever, there was a positive response from more recipients to accept help with fencing, housetraining, walking services, etc., in order to make the dog a member of the family "pack." The awareness continues to grow.

Thank you to every single person who took the time to make a card. Thanks also to the establishments who were so welcoming in allowing me to hang fliers.

See you next year.
