Sheriff's Office arrests seven in county illegal drug sweep

By Athens NEWS Staff

The Athens County Sheriff's Office, with help from state, federal and local law enforcement agencies, arrested seven men and two women last week in a sweep "œwhich targeted individuals dealing in illegal drugs in Athens County," according to a news release.

Seven of those arrested were charged with drug-related offenses, according to the release, while two were charged with non-drug crimes.

Those arrested, and their charges on arrest, are as follows:

"¢ Steven R. Spears, 45, Glouster, two counts of aggravated drug trafficking and two counts of aggravated drug possession.

"¢ Jeffrey W. Degarmore, 43, Glouster, aggravated drug trafficking.

"¢ Seth A. Weaver, 26, Amesville, two counts of aggravated drug trafficking.

"¢ Melissa J. Rutter, 29, Athens, heroin possession and heroin trafficking.

"¢ Glenn E. Rutter III, 31, heroin possession and heroin trafficking.

"¢ Ashley D. Williams, 23, Glouster, heroin trafficking.

"¢ James L. Smith, 29, Athens, heroin possession and heroin trafficking.

"¢ Patrick Brian Donovan, 28, Chauncey, burglary and felonious assault.

"¢ Larry Sheridan, 34, Glouster, criminal trespass (a misdemeanor); wanted on a warrant out of Perry County.

The arrests were made by his office's narcotics unit led by Det. Jerry Hallowell. Assisting in the sweep were the U.S. Marshal's Office, the Ohio Adult Parole Authority, and local law enforcement agencies.

its about time that couple got what they deserverd i mean for gods sake u have children and u want to bring them up in a life full of drugs ???? heroin of all things !! bad things happen to bad ppl dont put ur children down that road that u chose to live on all ready they r just babies!!

 

[color=olive][/color]Our children have already saw enough bad happen in out community. They need to not worry about petty things in the community & worry more about the heroin. That way these young children will not have to go through any more pain & loss.

I know where you can find him he is hiding out at his mother'ss house located at 5222 GunClub Road as well as at his sister Holly's house both of them tip him off so that he runs out the back door HE IS NOT GOING TO TURN HIMSELF IN!!! I understand you have his wallet along with ID that was taken from his cousin's car. They are HIDING HIM OUT THERE as we speak. You need to get the man power to pick him up!! He is out on a FELONY WARRANT FOR CHILD SUPPORT AND VERY DANGEROUS !!!!! His cell number is 707-6155 (740) Clayton I Ator 4/2/76 IF nothing is done about him being picked up I will take this matter further ENOUGH is ENOUGH !!! Charges should be PRESSED on his family for harboring a fugitive and his mother is very good friends with the Sheriffs Dept. themselves so obvoiusly someone there is a RAT !!!
