Some local fans of the 1985 teen film "śMischief" have the mistaken idea that the whole movie was filmed in Nelsonville.
This is not the case. Several other Ohio cities and areas were used, mainly in small towns southeast of Columbus, in northern Fairfield and southern Franklin counties (Lithopolis, Canal Winchester, Thurston and Baltimore). Also, some scenes were shot at locations in Columbus.
David Phillippi, who was an Ohio University student when "Mischief" was filmed, worked as a stand-in for the movie. He has a private Facebook page ("Heart and Soul") containing more than 150 photos, and many of the captions tell where the scenes were shot. Based on those captions, here's a quick guide to "Mischief's" locations:
"˘ Downtown scenes: Apparently mostly on Nelsonville's Public Square. Some of the other scenes from tree-lined small-town residential streets are recognizably from Nelsonville.
"˘ The houses where the main characters lived in the film: Most or all of them are in Canal Winchester.
"˘ The drive-in scene: Shot at the East Main Drive-in theater in Columbus.
"˘ Assorted street photos: Thurston.
"˘ High school exterior shots: Baltimore, Ohio.
"˘ High school interior shots: Hamilton High School in Columbus.
"˘ Grain elevator scene (site of the vehicular "chicken fight"): Lithopolis.
"˘ Horse farm scenes: At Rock Hill Farm in Lithopolis.
