Alvin "Al" Gerald Saunders
Memorial Service
A memorial graveside service for Alvin “Al” Gerald Saunders, 74, of Athens, will be held Sunday at 4:00PM in the West State Street Cemetery, Athens. Mr. Saunders died December 11, 2009 at his home. Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories.
A 1953 graduate of Athens High School he attended Ohio University. He was a longtime Athens resident and former resident of Baltimore, Maryland. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany.
Arrangements are with Jagers & Sons Funeral Home.

Alvin "Al" Gerald Saunders, 74, of Athens died Friday, December 11, 2009 at his home. Born November 21, 1935 in Athens, he was the son of the late Rev. Herpel Eugene and Mary Louise Pettiford Saunders.
A 1953 graduate of Athens High School he attended Ohio University. He was a longtime Athens resident and former resident of Baltimore, Maryland. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany.
Al is survived by a brother and sister in law, Ronald and Adriana Saunders of New York City.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Saunders and a brother, Phillip Eugene Saunders.
Funeral service will be Wednesday at 2:00PM in Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. Cremation will follow.
