Parade, ceremony fitting tribute to all those who perished in Vietnam

To the Editor:

Greetings: Once again as I stood at the corner of the Athens County Courthouse, I read the list of Vietnam Veterans of Athens County who died in the WAR. At the bottom of the marker, it reads "Forever Young."

I then began to think of all the friends who took part in making the marker, those who now have also passed on.

As the last unit of the parade passes, a voice says "fall in," the command of hand salute is given, and for the 19th year, we honor those who died in Vietnam.

Later, I attend "A Piece of My Heart." It reminded me of so many talks of times past. These young women, now join thousands of memories I will always carry inside of me.

Then as they turned to face The Wall, once again I saw the names of my friends who will be "Forever Young."
