Joseph B. Adams

Joseph B. Adams, 76, of Athens, went to be with the Lord Sunday evening, November 1, 2009 at Arcadia Nursing Center.   Born August 16, 1933 in Athens, he was the son of the late William A. and Mary Hammond Adams of Athens.

He was retired from Athens City Schools, A US Army Veteran and a member of the Athens American Legion and Moose Lodge.

He is survived by a nephew, Bill (Tammy) Adams of Guysville; four nieces, Ronda (Dean) Worthington of Romulus, MI, Judy Capehart of Crestwood, KY, Mary and Patty of Port Saint Lucy, FL; a sister-in-law, Barbara Adams of The Plains; and special friends, Nora McCally and Earnest Creamer.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Adams of Nelsonville, Dale Adams of Port Saint Lucy, FL; and a sister, Patricia of Athens.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Dave Cogar officiating. Burial will be in West Union Street Cemetery where military services will be conducted by Athens American Legion, Athens VFW and Albany VFW. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
