City's disabilities commission needs some new blood now

To the Editor:

The Athens City Commission on Disabilities is an agency of city government whose commitment is to provide a means for the concerns of people with disabilities to be heard and to serve as an advocate for such individuals. This commission works within its bylaws and in accordance with City Ordinance 0-07-04.

At this time, the commission is in search of individuals who might be interested in serving on the Athens City Commission on Disabilities. We strive to recruit members to represent the needs and interests of a variety of disability groups.

The committee would like to encourage the citizens of Athens to attend meetings and voice their needs and concerns about issues dealing with disabilities on a regular basis. The meetings of the commission are normally held on the third Wednesday of every month.

If you are interested in serving on this important committee or have questions about the Disabilities Commission, please contact Peete Bowen by e-mail at pb6023@roadrunner.com.
