Local business went beyond the call of duty to help family of feral ferlines

To the Editor:

It isn't every day you see a person or organization lending a helping hand to their fellow man, especially in times where there is great need. It is even less often you see an organization take on the responsibility of helping something less than human. A mother cat, just a kitten herself, and her two babies were found in the basement of Donkey Coffee in Athens. Donkey Coffee went above and beyond what was expected of anyone and worked with the Athens County Humane Society to carefully and safely trap these feral cats.

But their desire to help did not stop there. Not only did Donkey Coffee pay for the health care of these three felines, but they provided a foster home for the kittens as well. I, for one, would like to commend Donkey Coffee for taking a hand in helping out with such a widespread issue in our community, and stepping up to the plate to allow these animals to have better lives. More businesses in the local area should take a note from Donkey's book and sponsor or foster just one or two of the hundreds of abandoned and unwanted animals in this county. Thanks, Donkey!
