This weekend, more than 1,000 archers will be coming to Hocking College in Nelsonville. No, it's not a re-enactment of the Battle of Agincourt "“ it's the third leg of the annual Triple Crown of Bowhunting.
The competition takes place Friday through Sunday, and will include two simultaneous shoots involving competitors of all ages and skill levels.
Winners in various classes will advance to the national competition, according to a news release from HC, and top finishers in 32 classes will receive prizes. Top finishers in the pro and semi-pro classes will get cash prizes, whose size will depend on the number of entries.
The practice range and bowhunters' defense range open at 3 p.m. Thursday, but the competition starts Friday morning. Ranges will open at 7 a.m. each day of the competition, and spectators are encouraged to watch from the practice range where shooters warm up.
Prizes will be awarded at 3 p.m. Sunday. There is no entry fee to watch the competition.
