Little Hocking man charged in stabbing

By Athens NEWS Staff

A 51-year-old Little Hocking man was arrested Monday night after allegedly stabbing and seriously injuring his wife and a West Virginia man during a domestic dispute.

Facing a felonious assault charge is Daniel Carsner of Houston Road. Carsner is accused of stabbing Joel Crites, 33, whose last known address, according to the Athens County Sheriff's Office, is in Charleston, W.Va.

Crites was in critical condition in a West Virginia hospital, the sheriff reported around 9 a.m. Wednesday. The Charleston Area Medical Center reported around 2 p.m. Wednesday that Crites was in their intensive care unit under evaluation.

Also reportedly in critical condition at one point was Michelle Carsner, Daniel Carsner's 48-year-old wife who was reportedly injured in the altercation between her husband and Crites. She was taken to a Parkersburg hospital for treatment of cuts to her arm she suffered during the incident.

Saint Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg listed Michelle Carsner as upgraded to stable condition Wednesday afternoon.

According to a release from the sheriff's office, deputies were called to a reported stabbing at the Carsner home shortly before 10:30 p.m.

Daniel Carsner reportedly told the officers that Crites had come to the residence to see Michelle Carsner, an altercation broke out, and Daniel Carsner stabbed Crites.
