Released in 2005 and produced by Athens area residents Jean Andrews and Steve Fetsch, "A Forest Returns" chronicles the return of the forests of Appalachian Ohio after a century of clear-cutting.

The film has received numerous national awards since its release, including "Best Non-Broadcast Film" at the 2005 Montana CINE International Film Festival and "Best Documentary" at the 2005 Appalachian Film Festival in West Virginia. The video is distributed by Ohio Landscape Productions, Inc., a non-profit corporation that produces documentaries and public programs on the history and culture of the region.
