Troop's Takes: The editor’s alternate view

I disagree with our sports columnist about LeBron James never being “the best.” While Caleb Troop may eventually be proved right, he doesn’t have the evidence to say such a thing, including anything that transpired during Tuesday’s Game 1 against the Boston Celtics.

Every basketball player has a bad game occasionally, even the sainted Michael Jordan.

I can’t say whether LeBron will ever be the best, but I sure can’t say he won’t. He’s still young, and with his team improving (they almost beat Boston without LeBron), his career has nothing but up-side.

In the current series, while the Cavs lost to Boston in the first game on the Celtics’ court, they were heavy underdogs. They actually won a moral victory by showing they can play defense with the Celtics, and have a stronger bench.
