• The Athens County Historical Society and Museum is holding a Civil War exhibit called “Heroes and Hell Raisers: Athens County and Ohio during in the Civil War” at the Athens County Military Museum in Nelsonville. Soup for the Soul: A five-week series of lunchtime programs titled “Spirituality 2.0: Losing My Religion.” This installment features Rich Teske, of Reach Out on Campus, an evangelical campus ministry associated with the Church of Christ. Theater: “Humble Play: Appalachian New Play Fest.” ARTS/West. The festival runs through Saturday, Oct. 4. New plays will be performed at 7 each night with Best of the Fest Saturday evening, while Youth Division readings will occur at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Public Forum: To discuss proposed electric rate increases. This is one of several statewide forums that the Ohio Consumers Counsel has scheduled. 6-8 p.m. at the Athens Community Center. The agenda for each forum will include a panel presentation to inform customers about what various utilities’ rate-increase plans will mean for consumers.

Panel Discussion: Ohio University Latina Student Union hosts a panel discussion on the topic of insurance for Hispanics. 6 p.m. Walter Hall, room 135, OU.
