Opera House offers another free outdoor show this week
September 15, 2008
Stuart’s Opera House will host a free outdoor concert with The Carpenter Ants and special guests The McGovern Brothers this Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
The Carpenter Ants have been around – with virtually the same lineup – for more than 16 years. The Ants have played more than 2,000 shows and have outlasted most of their fellow musicians.
Having evolved into West Virginia’s premier rhythm and blues group, the band has unearthed a wealth of classic and forgotten American music. The Ants play everything from classic R&B to country-swamp and gospel-soul.
Athens County’s own The McGovern Brothers will open up the show with some bluegrass tunes.
The concert will be in the parking lot across the street from the opera house and will feature a beer garden.
No tickets are required for admission and lawn chairs are encouraged.
In case of rain the show will be moved inside to the Opera House. For more information call (740) 753-1924 or visit www.stuartsoperahouse.org.
